Yappy Birthday - MFT February Release Countdown Day 2!

Hello there! Welcome to Day 2 of MFT February Release Countdown!

For today, I created one layer birthday themed card using the adorable Canine Companions stamp set. 

To help create the birthday scene, I used the banners and presents from Party Animals (February Release) and the balloons from BB Happy Hippos stamp sets.

I used the masking technique for this card. Masking is a stamping technique of covering stamped images so that the other images may be stamped over it to create dimension without bulk. 

To begin, I stamped all the images you see on the card on Stamping Mask Paper and fussy cut them out. Then, I arranged the cutouts to see where I wanted to place each image.  On an A2 panel of smooth white cardstock I stamped the dog I wanted in the foreground and placed the mask over it and continued until I created the scene you see in the photo. 

Once I had all the images covered in masking paper, I masked off the bottom of the panel to create a floor for the dogs with washi tape and inked the rest using the Brick Wall Stencil with Antique Linen And Vintage Photo Distress Oxides. Then, I inked the floor using the same Distress Inks and removed the masks.

I colored the images with Copics and used White Gel Pen to add highlights. I added shadows around  the images with Copics as well. I kept the colors I used gender neutral so that this card can be given to anybody that loves dogs. 

The sentiment was stamped on Chocolate Brown Cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder and adhered to the card front.
